Credit Notes

When you need to refund or correct an invoice, a credit note does it cleanly — reducing what the customer owes and, when you tick Restock, returning the goods to inventory automatically. Your books and the customer's balance stay straight without manual adjustments.

Creating a Credit Note

Credit notes reduce what a customer owes — for returns, defective goods, pricing corrections, or discounts applied after invoicing.

  • From an invoice: Click Create Credit Note on the invoice detail. Items are pre-filled from the invoice.
  • Manually: Go to Credit Notes → New Credit Note.

Header fields: Customer (required), Related Invoice (optional), Date, Currency, Reason, Notes, and Internal Notes. Line items have a Restock checkbox — if checked, issuing the credit note will add the quantity back to inventory.

Credit Note Actions

Actions available on the credit note detail page:

  • Issue — Finalises the credit note: Draft → Issued. Lines with Restock checked add the quantity back to stock automatically.
  • Settle — Marks as resolved: Issued → Settled. A Settlement Notes field appears to record how the credit was applied.
  • Download PDF / Send Email — Sends a copy to the customer.
  • Delete — Draft only (manager/admin).
