Manufacturing
The Manufacturing module turns Svalog into a light production planner. Define bills of materials with units of measure, raise production orders, and let Svalog consume components and output finished goods — every movement booked through the same stock ledger, scrap factored in.
Units of Measure
Before creating Bills of Materials, define your units at Manufacturing → Units of Measure.
- Name (required) — Full name, e.g., "Kilogram", "Metre".
- Symbol (required) — Short code, e.g., "kg", "m", "L", "pcs".
- Category (required) — Groups units that can be automatically converted: Each, Weight, Volume, Length, Area, or Time.
- Conversion Factor (required) — How many base units this unit equals. Example: for grams (g) where kg is the base, the factor is 0.001.
- Active — Inactive UoMs are hidden from drop-downs.
Bills of Materials
A BOM defines the recipe for producing one batch of a finished product. Go to Manufacturing → Bills of Materials → New BOM.
- Name (required) — A descriptive name (e.g., "Standard Widget v1").
- Output Product (required) — The product being manufactured. Must have "Is Manufactured" checked.
- Output Quantity (required) — How many units one batch produces.
- Status — Draft, Active, or Archived. Only Active BOMs can be used on production orders.
Components: Add one row per raw material. Each row has Product (must have "Is Component" checked), Quantity, UoM, Scrap % (extra material for waste, e.g., 10 = 10% extra), and Notes.
Production Orders
A production order tracks a single manufacturing run. Go to Manufacturing → Production Orders → New.
- Bill of Materials (required) — Select from Active BOMs. Locked after creation.
- Planned Quantity (required) — How many units to produce.
- Scheduled Date — When production is planned.
Workflow: Draft → Confirm → Start → Complete (opens completion modal where you enter actual quantities consumed and scrapped). Completing creates stock movements for component consumption and finished product output.
