Customers
Keep every customer's details, addresses and payment terms in one place, and Svalog uses them automatically on quotes, invoices and delivery notes. Set per-customer billing terms once — even recurring, periodic invoices — and the paperwork follows.
Basic Info
Go to Customers → New Customer. Fill in the basic information:
- Customer Code (required) — Your internal code (e.g., CUST-001). Must be unique.
- Customer Name (required) — Full name shown on all documents.
- Customer Type — Company or Individual.
- Tax ID — The customer's VAT or tax registration number. Printed on invoices and quotes.
- Email — Used as the default recipient when sending documents by email.
- Phone and Website — For reference.
Address
Set billing and shipping addresses:
- Billing Address — The address printed on invoices and quotes. Fields: Address Line 1, Address Line 2, City, State/Province, Postal Code, Country.
- Shipping Address — The address printed on delivery notes. Tick "Same as billing" to auto-copy the billing address.
Business Terms
Configure the commercial terms for this customer:
- Payment Terms (days) — How many days after the invoice date the customer has to pay. Determines the invoice due date automatically.
- Credit Limit — Maximum outstanding balance allowed. For reference only — not automatically enforced.
- Currency — The currency used for this customer's documents (EUR, USD, GBP, CAD, or AUD).
The customer detail page shows a financial summary: total billed, outstanding balance, open invoices, and full purchase history.
Periodic Billing
Enable Periodic Billing for customers billed on a recurring schedule (e.g., monthly service fees). When enabled, choose the billing trigger:
- Fixed Interval — Bill automatically every N weeks or months.
- Manual — Accumulate charges onto an open consolidated invoice and finalize it yourself when ready.
Periodic billing customers have an open invoice that collects line items over the billing period. When ready to bill, click Finalize on that open invoice to convert it into a standard draft invoice.
